The word monotony reflects boredom to many. Even in terms of fashion, dressing in monotone doesn't fancy all. But there's something about this self-colour trend that really grabs my attention. I find it as tricky as mixing prints or wearing a satin slip dress. The queen of monotonous dressing, Kim Kardashian, makes this trend look so effortless and different every time. With the white on white, nude on nude or black on black, she's always slaying!

Dressing in one shade doesn't mean you stick to the shade from head to toe. The trick is to choose one colour as the highlight of your outfit and balance out the rest of the look. By balance I mean going subtle with make up or using contrasting accessories. One of the biggest reasons why I like this way of dressing is because it gives you a leaner appearance and enhances your curves at the same time.

For this post, I chose to wear dark grey co-ords and an old pair of grey sandals. To turn this rather common look into something interesting, I wore this beautiful statement neck piece from Eristona. With grey, black and white elements all beaded together, it was the perfect balance the outfit needed. If you like such statement pieces, you should check out their online store. You can't stop yourself from picking up a piece or two, I'm sure!
